Junior Proposal Illustrator

Job Summary

The Junior Proposal Illustrator will receive an exciting, challenging, and rewarding career opportunity through support of the Proposal Product and Compliance Teams in producing high-quality proposals for our clients. In this position, the selected candidate will apply his/her skills to support various graphics creation and publishing tasks throughout the proposal process. Functional Responsibilities and Performance Standards 

This position requires execution of the following functions within the Proposal Product Team and will report to the Chief Creative Officer.

Functional Responsibility

Proposal Graphics: Develop all client proposal graphics and illustrations.

Proposal Materials: Develop high-impact proposal publishing materials to include covers, spines, CD case covers, and CD labels.

Client Interface: Discuss design/illustration throughout proposal development and make changes as requested by client.

Proposal Templates: Develop outline template for each client proposal to include color scheme and embedded styles (fonts, tables, headings, and headers/footers).

Desktop Publishing: Format proposals utilizing MS Word for interim and final review.

Performance Standard

  1. Per the client style guide/color template and RFP requirements for font sizes in graphics
  2. Per the timeline specified by the Processing Team Lead
  3. Per BID Designs quality standards.

Day-to-Day Duties

Primary

  • Develop proposal graphics, illustrations, and proposal covers/materials
  • Develop proposal templates
  • Perform desktop publishing of proposals

Secondary

  • Provide graphics support for print and web efforts to include corporate brochures, advertisements, and other marketing materials as needed
  • Research stock photos and provide library maintenance
  • Provide assistance with final production for client proposals

Education, Skills and Experience

  • BS or BA in Marketing, Business, or related discipline
  • Proven experience (samples of work) in MS Office and Adobe software (Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Pro, and Photoshop)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • 0-2 years of experience (entry-level position)
  • Organized self-starter with willingness to learn and grow as a professional
  • Timeliness, accuracy, responsiveness, and reliability are required
  • Ownership and accountability of all assigned tasks.

Proposal Formatting/Desktop Publishing: Format submitted client inputs utilizing MS Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro to create high impact, exceptional quality, and compliant proposals.

Proposal Templates: Develop outline template for each client proposal to include color scheme and embedded styles (fonts, tables, headings, and headers/footers).

Compliance Matrices: Analyze and dissect proposal solicitation documents to create master compliance matrices and outlines for each proposal.

Performance Standard

  1. Per the client style guide/color template and RFP requirements for font sizes and graphics
  2. Per the timeline specified by the Processing Team Lead
  3. Per BID Designs quality standards.

Day-to-Day Duties

Primary

  • Develop proposal products including proposal documents, supporting materials, and compliance matrices and outlines.

Secondary

  • Provide light graphics support in MS PowerPoint and preparing Excel files for printing.
  • Production and assembly of proposals.

Education, Skills and Experience

  • BS or BA in Marketing, Business, or related discipline from an accredited institution is required.
  • 0-2 years of experience (entry-level position).
  • Experience in MS Office. Expertise in MS Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro is required. Expertise in MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and Adobe Suite of products (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) is desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized self-starter with willingness to learn and grow as a professional.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Timeliness, accuracy, responsiveness, and reliability are required.
  • Ownership and accountability of all assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime is required.

Proposal Publisher and Copy Editor

BID Designs, LLC, a business development consulting firm located in Huntsville, AL, has a requirement for a part-time Proposal Publisher to assist in the desktop publishing of client proposal efforts.

Working under the Lead Proposal Publisher, this position will be responsible for the development of proposal templates, formatting of proposals at reviews and for final publication, editing for grammar, and light graphics work. This position will coordinate directly with the Proposal Operations Team and Consulting Group Team to ensure on-time and accurate deliverables occur for each scheduled proposal.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Template Set-Up of Approved Outlines
  • Configuration Control Support via Online Configuration Tool
  • Implementation of Style Guide for Each Proposal
  • Embedded Styles within Each Proposal Document
  • Formatting/Desktop Publishing of Each Proposal at Designated Review Points and for Final Publication
  • Formatting to Page Count Requirements
  • Integration of Graphics/Tables/Figures
  • Development of Some Graphics in Support of the Lead Graphics Artist
  • Editing Proposal Documents for Grammar, Page Count Restrictions, and Consistent Messaging

Key Skills:

  • Expert-Level User of Microsoft Word and Use of Styles and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Must Have or Plan to Achieve Microsoft Word Advanced Certification
  • Extensive Knowledge of English Grammar and the Ability to Accurately and to Deadlines
  • Ability to Work Within a Team Environment as Self-Starter Capable of Working to Set Deadlines and Priorities
  • Organized and Detail-Oriented
  • Ability to Work with Unexpected, Quick-Turn Events
  • Proven Demonstration of Ethics, Integrity, and Quality of Work

Qualifications & Work Experience:

  • Expertise in MS Office Suite, in Addition to MS Word Certification Noted Above
  • Some Experience in Adobe Creative Suite Design Applications Including: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Acrobat Pro
  • 5 Years’ Experience in Formatting Government Proposals Required
  • Applicant will be Required to Pass an MS Word Formatting Test
  • Experience as an Editor for Marketing/Proposal Documents

Position:

  • Located in Huntsville, AL, Office
  • No Travel Required
  • Part Time, Hourly

Work Hours:

  • As a surge position, must be able to work varying hours during each week in Huntsville office.  Ability to work from home in evenings from time to time is ideal.
